Valley of Dry Bones

There comes a time in life when it seems that all that is around you is dead and lifeless. They are without form and empty. So much so you begin to feel the repercussions of such an environment. Where nothing you touch seems to birth out life. Well, I can say I have see and experienced that time and may I say it is not a friendly place to be. You turn one way to seek solace and find nothing but fire and pain. So rightly so, like anyone, you automatically turn the other way hoping that the path on the other side may be different- only to realize- No it is not. If anything it is more difficulty.

What do you do when it seem all the odds are against you, the world is crashing down – like the earth is filled with decaying matter. When you look for food and find none, you look for shelter and find none.

You create, you speak life into the dry bones in your valley, you protest the beginning of new life, new trees, new grass. You pray for an awakening, a change but this time you add one more to your prayer. You add action. Action + Prayer equals new birth-new life.

Life can become overwhelming, even depressing but allowing depression to overtake you is the worst thing that you could allow to happen. Why? Because you gave in without a fight, without holding your ground; you are made greater than that.

If you are in a place of depression, defeat, a place without water- a dry land. I urge you to create vegetation, bring forth water. You are not alone, for many are in the same predicament but it is those that decide that they will not die in their dry place but rather make it an oasis that become Great.

Remain focus, remain driven and plant.

Under Construction:

Hello All!

I am in the process of revamping and changing my direction for this space and really am seeking to do some uniquely different things. Thus, in the upcoming weeks, there will be some changes,… well a lot of changes! I can not lie. As, I begin to develop and flourish as an individual; I would like this space to reflect my growth, progress and passion.

I would so love it if you all will embark on this journey with me to “developing land”.  I say all this to say that, I would like to offer more than just conversational entries but really would like to depict my passions and love into all aspects of this blog. My female clutch line, my accessories line, clothing line, numerous philanthropic activities and even  share my start-up struggles and last but not least my Faith. Which I feel, I have not completely done.  I want this to really impact somebody-anybody or at least if no-one it will help me to better myself as an individual.

Let’s take the Journey together!

With Love,

Clothed: The Beginning

What do you see when you look at the women of today?

While having a conversation with a guy friend of mine his response to this question was quite startling and I only deemed it necessary to share. My friend whom we will call Mike.

Background on the conversation, I have been working on building a network of young women that are active in their communities, locally and globally. In speaking about the issues those women, especially young women face in the world today we landed on presentation amongst many things. The manner in which women are represented, the way they present themselves and what is deemed proper presentation of womanhood.

So, Mike hastily mentioned female attire; he boldly declare that young women today have a difficult time it seems differentiating between sexy and trashy. He stated, “The modern day women is lost in transition”. We are in constant search of a fictitious reality of womanity but can never seem to grasp because the very thing we seek after, stares at us everyday in the mirror. We are looking in the wrong places.

My jaw dropped as I listened to his man and his perception of woman presently. How even in the skirt lengths that a female wears sets off a radar of some sort to the outside world, the amount of makeup we wear is an indicator. An indicator of what you may ask? To be discussed…

Now I have set down with countless of my male friends and discussed similar topics in respect to both sex but the this conversation took it to another level as Mike from first glance would not seem to be the one to utter such words; indeed I was truly captivated.

You will read more in the following weeks to come in a mini blog series I seek to launch called: Clothed

Are we as woman truly clothed with the names of others than are own? Are we just walking duplicates of each other? Have we lost our voices in the hustle and bustle of society today trying to fit a standard?

Let me know your thoughts and views. What set you apart from the crowd? Are you a Stand apart woman or a Stand in part woman?
